Synopsis
They say it’s the quiet ones you have to worry about, and she was quiet, very quiet—when she wasn’t busy despising me with a burning passion. Ringo ‘Ringer’ James has a no-strings-attached policy. Love them, leave them, and remain the eternal bachelor.
After a summer in which every one of his mates has succumbed to settling down, or so it seemed, Ringer is on the lookout for a quick exit. Having had enough of the stomach-turning love fest witnessed over the past three months, Ringer jumps at the opportunity to help out his mate, Max, by heading to Max’s dad’s property for a working holiday.
It’s just what he’s looking for. A remote, dusty homestead in Ballan, with only hard work, a cold beer and a comfy bed to worry about – no women. Until Miranda Henry.
The privately educated daughter of his boss has returned home from overseas and things are about to get very complicated, very fast. As summer draws to its end, Ringer is about to learn that sometimes attraction defies all logic, and that there really is such a thing as 'enemies with benefits'.

My Review
About a month ago, I had the opportunity to read That One Summer by C.J. Duggan. I really enjoyed that story, so when I was given the opportunity to review her next book, Ringer, I jumped at the chance. I especially love that this series is set in Australia...in the 90's! Ok, I spent my teen years in the 90's and it was a great decade, let me tell you. So as you can imagine, this series brings back a lot of memories. Not to mention, Ringer sings Air Supply's "Lost in Love" song in his book. Air Supply. Yes, I had a huge grin on my face and hummed a long.
Ringer, along with Chris, is one of my favorite guys in this series. I really like his fun and flirty personality. He's one of those people that can make you smile simply by walking in the room. There's just something about the vibe he give off that makes you happy. Ringer put up with A LOT of crap in this book, yet he still managed to stay cool and calm. Honestly, I don't know how the guy did it. You see, Miranda, the heroine in Ringer, wasn't such a nice person. My first impression was that she was cold, spoiled, and self -entitled. Before Ringer even had a chance to say hello, he was on her bad side.
Miranda and Ringer often played tricks on each other, and their banter was really funny. I liked that Ringer would call her on her behavior, without being overly mean or stooping down to her behavior. (POSSIBLE SPOILER AHEAD). I have to admit, I was a little surprised how quickly his feelings towards her changed, and I wondering what good qualities he saw in her. I saw very little myself throughout most of the book. I think I would have liked a little more insight as to what happened to Miranda four years ago, and how eventually brought her to where she was now (emotionally). I was so happy she took a chance to look within herself and see what she was doing to those around her. It made me see her in a different light.
The Summer series!
